House of Usher is a 2D adventure game, based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe. A main aspect of my bachelor thesis was the examination of storytelling in games. Major changes to the original story The Fall of the House of Usher had to be done to fit everything into the concept of a game.
Besides working out the best way to provide this story to the user and the planing of interactions, the developing of a unique look for the game was the main challenge. The detailed illustrations lead to a mysterious and dark atmosphere and allow the user to explore the different places and rooms.
